Dentine and Pulp 1

Interglobular dentine and tubule branching

Interglobular dentine arises because of incomplete fusion of calcospherites with the mineralising front as dentine is laid down and mineralised. This incomplete fusion traps areas of poorly mineralised dentine matrix within the dentine in the form of 'arches' that reflect the original spherical nature of the calcospherites. Calcospherites can be seen clearly at the mineralisation front of forming dentine as in the demineralised transverse section of a tooth root available in this topic (Dentine and Pulp slide 3).

The slide also demonstrates tubule branching as the tubules approach the amelo-dentinal junction (ADJ)
